The sixth country study under the Post-2015 Data Test series has been released. The seven-country project Post-2015 Data Test: Unpacking the Data Revolution at the Country Level is implemented by the Southern Voice network along with Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Dhaka and Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA), Ottawa.
The report viz. Assessing Data for the Sustainable Development Goals in Tanzaniaexplores the current state of data in Tanzania and its implications for Tanzania’s SDG delivery. It revisits the existing efforts of various country-level initiatives attempting to drive the “data revolution” and sheds light on Tanzania’s need to overcome the statistical limitations of its official and non-official data producers.
The study has been conducted by Blandina Kilama, Senior Researcher; Constantine George, Researcher; Lucas Katera, Director of Commissioned Works; and Neema Rutatina, Assistant Researcher of REPOA – Policy Research for Development, Tanzania.
It is expected that the report will contribute in the following ways: lay the groundwork for SDG implementation by identifying national priorities; help identify data bottlenecks; fuel the debate on the need to design policies using data and information, and offer country-specific recommendations for implementing the SDGs and measuring progress.
The country reports of Bangladesh, Canada, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Turkey are available here. The seventh country study depicting the data realities of Peru will be available in the coming days.
